Only eligible candidates in those fields are able to win the awards provided by the Department of Tourism. Without further ado, the list of eligibility criteria is as follow:

  • South African citizen
  • Studying full-time in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • NOT currently employed
  • NOT a staff member of The National Department of Tourism

First of all, you have to download the application form of the Department of Tourism Bursary for South Africans on this following link. The form is in .PDF format so that you can print and scan the document later. Then, complete the application form by including these documents as follow:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Other qualification certificates, if applicable (certified copies)
  • Recent academic records (certified copy)
  • Confirmation of registration (if currently registered to study at a tertiary institution)
  • Proof of household income (latest payslips if parents/ guardians are employed OR affidavit if parents/ guardians are unemployed)
  • Admission letter
  • Research proposal (Honours and Masters degree students only)
