Job Description

Successful incumbent will be stationed in KwaZulu-Natal (Pietermaritzburg) and will receive a level 5 salary each year which is R 152 862. The minimum requirement for this position is Senior/Grade 12 Certificate accompanied with one year of prior experience in acquisition management. The latter is not compulsory but it will certainly be an added advantage. Furthermore, it is important for candidates to know the following job related knowledge:

  • Collecting statistics and operate computer
  • Understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service
  • General work procedures in terms of the working environment

The qualified candidate can expect to be involved in but not limited to the following duties:

  • Acquisition and render demand clerical support
  • Maintain and update a supplier which includes contractors database
  • Request as well as receive quotations
  • Register suppliers on Logis or system similar to that
  • Issues and receive bid documents
  • Place orders
  • Provide logistical and secretarial support during the bid consideration as well as contracts conclusion process
  • Compiling of comparative schedules for various commodities
  • Compile draft documents
  • Checking of files against a checklist during processing of bids/quotations
  • Reporting on every aspect of Acquisition
  • Providing procurement related support to clients
  • Following up on acquisition related matters until finalized as well as an order number is created
  • Correct record keeping
